Surgery Tomorrow

Well, tomorrow is the big day.  Barbara is very nervous as expected (as am I), but we are generally doing pretty good.  We have to leave for Portland before 6 tomorrow morning, so it will be an early morning and long day.  Surgery is scheduled for 10:10, but of course that could change up until she is actually in there.  It is supposed to take 2 to 3 hours, but of course that could also be shorter (unlikely) or longer.  I will try to do a brief post as soon after the doctor talks to me as I can and plan to do something more extensive later in the evening or afternoon.  That assumes I have decent Internet access at the hospital.  I will also make a couple calls as soon as I have a chance and have service (not sure how good cell phone service will be inside the hospital).  I should be able to at least text Coleen from inside even with no service and at least some Internet, so she will have the latest in at least a text format (at least surgery is over and brief results).

I plan to stay at a motel (Clarion has a very good hospital rate) near the hospital until she comes home except for one night.  Our son, Wayne, is coming on Saturday to be with her while I make a trip home to do a little shopping and to just make sure everything is ready for her (to also maybe get a good nights sleep).  I will likely make that trip home the night before she will be coming home, so not sure when that will be.  The surgeon said she could come home as early as 5 days after surgery, but it could be longer depending on how she is doing and healing.  She indicated the average stay for this is 5-7 days although when I looked on-line, it sounded more like 7-10 days, so I am not expecting it to be 5, but who knows.

Wish her luck and I know your prayers and thoughts are with us which means a lot.

Wayne
