We just got to talk to the surgeon and she indicated that she strongly believes the leak should seal itself with a little more time which is very good to hear. The plan right now is for us to go home tomorrow morning if they can get, the pain in her side under control and we will come back in a week to redo the test for the leak. If not sealed at that point, decide what to do from there. Potentially wait another week for it to seal, but not sure. If leak is sealed, she could start eating at that time.
If the leak does not seal on its own, they could put in a stint to create a seal, but she wants to avoid that and she believes it will seal on its own. It sounds like a lot of stress and anxiety for basically nothing.
At home, she will still get food through her feeding tube and probably some medication through that as well. We will likely have a nurse come by each day too.
Sounds like things are still going ok although much slower than expected. As things become more firm, I will update again, but for now, looks like we will be home sometime tomorrow.
