After surgery, day 1

Barbara is doing pretty good this morning. Her shoulder still hurts, but otherwise she not really feeling any pain. The epidural is keeping any pain in her gut under control which is good. A doctor came in and worked on her ribs and shoulder and from what he described, what she is feeling is not unusual but what he did should help it resolve quicker. He was very good and explained hat he did and why.

I have also learned more about all the tubes she has.  It turns out that the tube up her nose is for drainage and not feeding. There is another tube going in her side for feeding as well as another one for drainage, so she is hooked up to several things including a lot to her IV. Her attitude is very good and she is doing everything they say so she can get better as fast as possible. So far everyone here is great.

They will be getting her up into a chair shortly and if she is up to it, a short walk after, but only if she is up to it.
