Post Surgery, day 13a

After the anxiety from what we heard over the past few days, we feel much better this morning. We have already talked to one of the surgery team doctors this morning and got some explanation of what is going on.

According to him, the test yesterday was really to confirm what they already knew, that she had a leak. It was also to get a look at how extensive the leak was and more detail on exactly where it was. He indicated this was not too unusual and that it can sometimes take a few weeks to heal on its own. He believes that waiting is likely the plan for now and things will probably resolve itself in time. It looks like for we will continue to wait and watch. He apologized for this not being made clear to us and understood our concern. Obviously there is no guarantee that it will resolve on its own or when, but at least we feel much better that even though this was not what we expected, things will likely be just fine, just a slower recovery than expected. Most of our concern yesterday was from a little miscommunication and misunderstanding. When we did get a detail or a little explanation, it was not always a complete picture so we misunderstood and not knowing is almost always worse than knowing.

The doctor who came in said he would get the boss, the surgeon who did the surgery, to come in sometime today to explain more and answer any questions (if we know what to ask), so hopefully we will understand more about the plan going forward later today. I will update as I know more.

BTW: To make things more fun, when I took Wayne to the motel last night in the poring rain, I had a flat tire. One more thing to get fixed today or tomorrow.
