Cycle 3, Day 9

The sores in Barbara's mouth continue to be pretty bad.  We called in today and they sent in a prescription for something to rinse her mouth with.  It seems to be helping a little by numbing it some and hopefully it will help it heal quicker as well.  The main concern along with not getting dehydrated is that she be able to do the CT on Monday which requires her to swallow the yucky contrast mixture before the CT.  That is hard enough for her when she feels good, but with the mouth sores and difficulty swallowing, it may be impossible for her to do it.  She will try to do her best, but we will see how she is doing on Monday morning.

The nausea continues to get a little better each day, but it is not really making much difference given the mouth sores.  She is trying to keep her spirits up, but is still feeling pretty miserable and it is wearing on her.  She is getting enough liquids down to keep from getting dehydrated (but barely enough) and is getting even less calories.  She should be fine as long as it starts to clear up in the next few days.  We are pushing her at times to make sure she gets enough in her so that she does not get even sicker.

Hopefully I will starting having some better news in the next couple days.
