Barbara started off the day feeling worse than yesterday. She was feeling pretty good at one point last night as she was thinking about things she wanted to eat today. Unfortunately, when she got up this morning she was feeling worse. Her stomach was upset, both nausea and some cramping, and her throat felt as sore as yesterday and was bleeding some. We hope that the bleeding is because her mouth is starting to heal, but it is not helping her feel any better right now. Because of the bleeding and mucus in her mouth, she is probably swallowing some which may be partly the reason her stomach is feeling worse today.
As the day went on, she did start feeling better, but except for drinking some tea, she did not have anything to drink or eat until late afternoon when she was able to eat a piece of turkey (very slowly and tiny pieces). We are hoping that today is the beginning of the healing process (mouth sores) and she will start to feel better every day, but we will see. I believe she is going to try and do the CT tomorrow morning, but we will see how she feels first thing tomorrow.
Because she has eaten very little for almost a week now and is drinking only enough to keep hydrated, she is clearly weak and gets tired very easily. She is still keeping a pretty good attitude, but feeling bad this long is wearing on her. If she can start to feel better in the next few days, that will make a big difference. Of course, we will likely find out about the plans for the next couple months including the surgery. I hope she has a little break before the surgery, but on the other hand, removing the tumor as quickly as possible would be a big plus. Hopefully the testing will not turn up any surprises over the next week plus so we can proceed as planned.
