Cycle 2, Day 10

We have a little bit of good news for a change.  Barbara says her nausea was less this morning which was a very good sign.  Maybe there is a chance that the pills are not the main cause of her nausea and diarrhea, but it is mostly the other drugs she gets on day 1 and it just takes over a week or so to get them out of her system.  The pills are likely still a bit of the problem, but maybe not the main problem.  In any case we plan to see how she feels over the next couple days and if she continues to improve, we may try to up the pill dosage a little bit to get closer to what the doctor would like her to be taking.  The higher dosage she takes, the more effective it should be against the cancer.  We'll see.

In any case, she was feeling well enough that we went out for a while today to do a little shopping and to eat.  It may have been a little too much or too early after just starting to feel better as she is now very worn out and the nausea is worse than this morning.  Hopefully that is just from doing a lot relative to what she has been doing for the past 10 days or so.  How she feels tomorrow should tell a lot.

Her tingling was mostly under control today, but is still there.  She has learned how to be careful about what she touches and what she drinks, but it still gets triggered at times.  Using gloves is really critical to this control.

Right now she is clearly fatigued which is likely a combo of doing more than normal today as well as the fatigue from the drugs.  She is sleeping a little better so I think that is helping the fatigue some.

Her spirits remain pretty good and getting out a little does seem to help.  Hopefully she will feel up to doing it again sometime next week before we go to the doctor on Thursday, but only she can decide that.   She is still trying to not get too close to other people to avoid the risks of getting sick since her resistance is probably pretty low right now.  When we do go out, even if among other people at a store or restaurant, at least she is not getting too close to others (no hugging, etc.).

Bottom line is that today felt like a good day and maybe the rest of this cycle will continue to get a little better each day.  She could use a few days where she is not completely miserable and up to actually doing something.
