A little more to talk about today. We went to the hospital where a Ferrous infusion was planned. Because she continues to feel a lot of nausea, they decided not to do that today. Instead, they gave her IV liquids as well as an IV medication to help with the nausea. The liquids seemed to help some but the nausea medicine did not seem to make any real difference. They ended up giving her a different prescription which we got filled on our way home and hopefully that will do better than the other two.
The doctors are not there on Monday's, but the nurses talked to our oncologists and he sent in the new prescription as well as taking in the information on how she is doing. That is why the Ferrous was not done and the extra IV liquids were done. Since she continues to be sensitive to cold (or even just cool) things on her fingers and mouth, it seems like a good chance they will change at least one of the drug dosages for her next treatment. We have an appointment with the oncologist Wednesday morning to go over all of this and potentially plan the next cycle. Of course her condition will be watched closely which could cause additional changes. She is clearly not getting as much liquids as they would like, but at least enough not to get dehydrated yet. She is eating, but not a lot which is not a big surprise, but as long as she is eating some, she should be OK. We will see if anything changes in the next couple days and how she is doing when we see the oncologist on Wednesday.
They also did standard blood tests and all of her readings were OK, so at least no other problems to worry about at this point. Dehydration was the big concern, but so far she must be getting at least enough fluids to prevent that.
In general, she is probably doing a little worse than most people on this treatment, but so far nothing really serious which basically means watching her closely and making adjustments to try and make her more confortable while still getting the Chemo treatments- as much as possible.
One aside: we notice that some of our mail and packages have the wrong address. They are pretty good here since we are getting at least some of these, but we have no way of knowing if we are actually getting them all. For clarification, our mailing address is actually:
PO Box 550
And our street address is:
51 Mill Brook Rd. (not Mill Creek Rd.)
The street address will get to the PO Box for mail, so for cards and such, either will work. Rangeley or Sandy River Plt both work as long as 04970 is used for ZIP.
Again, thanks for all your support.
Wayne
