Barbara continues to eat a little better each day. Her tastes are starting to get a little better as well and she is eating a larger variety of foods. The doctor has said she can basically eat anything she wants as long as she takes small bites, chews them well and only eats small amounts total at a time. This seems to be working fairly well except that she is still feeling uncomfortable after eating and has gotten something stuck on the way down a couple times which was very painful. It eventually went down, but did really hurt for several minutes. She also threw up a little the last time this happened. Clearly her body has a lot of adjusting to do with the new "reality" of eating without a stomach.
We are down to only 4 cans (from 7) through the tube feeding, but it may take several more days or even a few weeks to get all the way down to zero.
We go back to the Oncologist on Thursday, so I may have some news about the specific Chemo planned and when it might start.
