Latest Oncologist visit

We met with a new oncologist on Wednesday last week.  He is new to the hospital, but we liked him ok.  The blood work was all fine and no new indications that the cancer has returned, so all good news.  She will have another CT scan in late November with a doctor's visit afterward in early December to get results.

We discussed having her port removed as it does bother her some given all the weight she has lost and he agreed that taking it out at this point did make sense.  We met with a surgeon (same one who originally found the cancer) on Thursday and he will be removing it next Tuesday morning.  We also discussed the possible hernia and he feels that it is so small that it did not make sense to do anything with it at this time.  The mesh from the original repair has lumped up some and doing anything at this time will likely cause more of a problem than fix anything.  We really like him and his approach to things, so we have a lot of trust in him. He takes a cautious approach and tries to make sure that what is done is as safe as possible.

No other real news at this time.  Wayne did come through Harvey ok with only some leakage in his roof, but no flooding.  We are waiting on the results of Irma (and maybe Jose as well) for Coleen, Jan, family in The Villages as well as our many friends in FL.  Fortunately, at this point at least, it looks like they are unlikely to suffer much damage given the latest projections on the storms, although anything could happen.
